The Suspects were formed in 1993 by Bill Grady and Charlie Esparza and played their first show at the long-gone “club” Hoi Polloi on October 3, 1993. After many years of hard work and dedication (and a few months of internal strife), The Suspects broke up in August of 2002. The Suspects played two reunion shows after their breakup: January 19, 2007 and December 23, 2007… both at the Continental Club in Houston, Texas. After thinking about it for a few months, The Suspects decided you can’t ignore a good thing and announced their return to a full-time schedule in the summer of 2008.
Not only do The Suspects play this Thursday, July 30th at the Continental Club, but you’ll be seeing our faces in the Houston Chronicle’s entertainment section that day as well. Our show on the 30th is sponsored by 29-95.com, a new Houston entertainment website, and the amount of press that it’s generating borders on overload. Soak it up, ska lovers!
We’re very excited about our upcoming show… playing at the Continental Club is always a great experience, but this time all you ska lovers have a reason to show up early: Channel One is a very talented band and you will love their smooth, jazzy delivery.
A few of The Suspects caught them at Fitzgeralds last year, and we could not understand why there wasn’t a bigger crowd. Hopefully, you guys can show them that Houston is still a great place for ska bands and ska fans to mingle.

I’m sure we’ll cover such interesting topics as, “aren’t you guys are kinda old to be in a band?”, and “just what is ska, anyways?”.
